Homemade Pizza

I love making my own pizza because I can tailor it anyway I like and it’s a lot heathier and less expensive than buying it already made. So when I have the time, I like making it from scratch. Below I will be sharing a recipe that I’ve used for ages, it’s quick and easy. I I recommend that you use a stand mixer with a bread dough attachment for easier mixing. However, it can still be done using silicon spoons or whatever you have on had. Makes one (1) large pizza size (I use and 18″ pizza pan.) thin crust style. If you wish for a thicker crust, you can double up the dough recipe.

Ingredients

For pizza dough:

  • One (1) package Active Dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1-2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 cups flour

Pizza Topping:

  • 16-20 oz of Pizza sauce.
  • Cheese. I used Monterey and cheddar. Varity and as little or as much as you want.
  • Variety of other toppings, unless you want to make it plain cheese. I did part cheese and part toppings. I used chopped black olives, sliced onions, sliced green peppers, pepperoni and sausage in this example.
Pizza toppings

1. In a stand mixer bowl, add warm water and yeast. Mix well and let it sit for about 5 minutes. This helps to see if the yeast is still good. It should foam up.

2. Next, add the warm milk, butter, oil, sugar and salt. Mix well by hand using a whisk.

3. Using a stand mixer with bread dough attachment, add flour to wet mixture 1/2 a cup at a time, blending at a low speed. Gradually increase speed to medium while adding more flour until completely incorporated. Be sure to scrape the sides of the bowl. The dough is ready when it comes together and forms a ball.

4. After mixing, rub a little olive oil over the pizza dough ball and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rest at least for 15 minutes. It doesn’t have to rise much since this is a quick version of a pizza dough. During this time you can prep whatever toppings you’d like. You can even make the pizza sauce, too.

5. Dust some flour on a board and roll out and gently knead the dough for a minute or two, flatten out to a disk space. Using either your hands or a rolling pin, roll out the dough to cover the pan size that you are using for your pizza. Raise the edges of the dough to keep the sauce from spilling over. It should look like a thin crust.

6. Using a ladle (it’s easier and quicker than a flat large spoon) scoop up sauce and add to the center of the dough and spread to cover the bottom of the dough. Use as little or as much as your preference. Add the cheese and toppings of your choice. Bake pizza at 425 degrees for at least 12 minutes. Check for doneness and cook for a a few more minutes depending on how you done want it. Once you remove, let it rest for about 5 minutes before cutting because it will be really hot. Serves 8-12 depending on how you slice it.

You’re ready to enjoy one of the best homemade pizzas you’ve ever had, at least in my opinion. I hope you give this a try if you get a chance. Those of you who know me are more than welcome to request me make it and you can try it for yourself. Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Your support is greatly appreciate. God bless and Buen Provecho!
