Air Fryer Gyro Meat

I absolutely love gyros! I usually get them whenever I go to a faire, which hasn’t happened much since the lockdowns, so this prompted me to make my own and I really loved how it came out. It’s even better and healthier because I’m air frying it and controlling the ingredients. And now I can air fry it without using my oven. Bliss!! If you love gyros, here’s my air fried version of it. Serves 4-8.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground lamb
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 onion (I used yellow)
  • 1 Tbs. chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp marjoram
  • 1 tsp rosemary (I used fresh)
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1/4 tsp salt

1. Using a food processor, add the dry ingredients and pulse until to a fine ground. Set aside.

Blended spices

2. Next, add the meat in the processor, pulse 3-4 times and then add the previous blended ingredients and pulse until well blended. Put in a bowl and allow to marinate/rest in the fridge for up to 2 hours.

Meat blended before and after adding spices.

3. Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees. Use non stick spray and baking sheet liner on pan before adding the meat (see below). Cook for 20 minutes. Check the meat and cook anther 10 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees. Take out the meat and let it rest about 15 minutes. You can also cook this in a 365 degree oven for about 45 minutes to an hour.

The meat is now ready to serve in a pita or naan bread and trimmings with my Tzatziki sauce link here. I used naan bread, sauce, tomatoes and lettuce.

As I stated before, this came out very juicy and tasty in shorter amount of time without having to use an oven. If you love gyros as I do, I encourage you to try this. Thank you for stopping by. God bless and Buen Provecho!

  2. I’ve been browsing online greater than three hours as of late, but I by no means found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty price sufficient for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made excellent content material as you did, the internet can be a lot more useful than ever before.

  3. I’ve loaded it on my phone and didn’t see any loading issues but it could be their server. I can depend on the time of day, but I’m not sure. I will be upgrading my site soon and hopefully that should help. Thank you of your support and patience.
